Dashboard subsidy: what is and is not eligible

Revenue, margin and stock sit in five systems and a few spreadsheets. Anyone who wants to steer waits for the quarterly figure or builds it in Excel. 1Quick answer
  1. Revenue, margin and stock sit in five systems and a few spreadsheets. Anyone who wants to steer waits for the quarterly figure or builds it in Excel.

  2. Configuring a dashboard on existing software is not R&D (S&O) and gets no subsidy.

  3. Linking and cleaning data from several systems can fall under the WBSO if it is technically new: 36% on the first €391,020 of R&D costs, starters 50%.

  4. In the Exact SME Barometer 2025, 4 in 10 manufacturers have no current view of stock, and 80% find planning challenging.

  5. Applications for 2027 open in mid-November 2026, with 20 December as the deadline for a start on 1 January. If there is nothing to gain, no proposal follows.

When can you apply?

We don't blast newsletters, we contact you personally, well before the opening date, to prepare your application.

We design the project and help write the application

Stratalytic is a team of solution architects, data scientists and engineers. We design and build the project and help write the application, so it describes work that actually happens. The first step is an intro call of 30 minutes, no obligation.

01

The problem behind the dashboard

Revenue, margin and stock sit in five systems and a few spreadsheets. Anyone who wants to steer waits for the quarterly figure or builds it in Excel. When the stock in the ERP cannot be trusted, everyone counts for themselves first.

It is not an isolated case. In the Exact SME Barometer 2025, 4 in 10 manufacturers have no current view of stock, and 80% find the planning of production resources challenging.

02

What is and is not eligible

Not eligible: configuring a dashboard on existing software. Making a report in the tool the company already uses, on data that already sits in one place, formatting it, creating users, buying licences and training the team. That is not R&D (S&O), and a wholesaler that only does this gets no subsidy. We say so.

Can fall under the WBSO: the technically new part, such as linking and cleaning data from several systems. For example when the ERP offers no usable export, article numbers are called something different in each system, and it is uncertain up front whether they can be matched automatically. RVO assesses this per application; there is no guarantee.

03

What the WBSO returns and when to apply

In 2026 the WBSO gives 36% on the first €391,020 of R&D costs and 16% above that. Starters get 50% on the first tranche. For 2027 the same percentages and tranche limit were announced on Budget Day (15 September 2026), subject to approval by the Senate.

Applications for 2027 open in mid-November 2026. For a start on 1 January the deadline is 20 December. The application always comes before the R&D work, never afterwards. An employer can make up to four applications per year. More in the WBSO page.

Other schemes, honestly

MIT feasibility (35%, up to €20,000) runs per province, not through RVO. The budget is usually gone on opening day and the next round is not yet known. Mijn Digitale Zaak is not open at the moment, and no new date has been announced. The problem does not have to wait for a subsidy: a first overview can start small. See the overview for what is open now.

05

What a start looks like

At a wholesaler, nobody has to retype two of the three order emails anymore (3,300 of 5,017 order emails, measured in September 2026): before everything by hand, now 67.7% as a correct draft order. That is different work from a dashboard, but the same approach: evidence on the company's own data first, start small, the team stays in control.

It takes thirty minutes for the intro call, then access to the systems the figures come from. We handle the build, the links and going live, next to what is there. After delivery the code belongs to the company.

4Process

How does it work?

  1. Intro call of 30 minutes

No obligation. We hear which figures are hard to get and in which systems they sit, and say honestly whether technically new work is in it. If not, no subsidy proposal follows.

  2. Application before the start

If there is work that qualifies, we help write the technical description. The WBSO application always comes before the work, never afterwards.

  3. Build and link

We handle the build, the links and going live, next to the systems that are there. The team stays in control, and after delivery the code belongs to the company.

5FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Is my dashboard eligible for a subsidy?

A dashboard configured on existing software is not. It has to be technically new development work, such as linking and cleaning data from several systems where it is uncertain up front whether it will succeed. New means new for the company, not a worldwide invention. RVO assesses each application, so there is no guarantee.

Which data can be connected?

Usually the ERP (such as Exact, AFAS, SAP Business One, Dynamics or Odoo), Excel files, the webshop and the warehouse. Whether linking and cleaning falls under the WBSO depends on whether it is technically new. Creating users, formatting reports and training the team do not.

Do we need to buy a new system?

No. The dashboard runs next to the ERP and the Excel files that are there now. The figures stay in the systems where they are, and the team stays in control of what is shown.

Which software do you use for a dashboard?

If the company already works with Power BI or Excel, we build on that. Otherwise we choose the simplest tool that fits. The choice follows from the question the dashboard has to answer, not the other way around.

Can I start small and expand later?

Yes, we recommend it. Start with one question that is asked every week and cannot be answered quickly now, for example which customers cost margin. That number comes from the existing systems and is checked with the team. The overview can grow from there.

How much subsidy can I get?

In 2026 the WBSO gives 36% on the first €391,020 of R&D costs and 16% above that. Starters get 50% on the first tranche. It only concerns the costs of the technically new part, not the whole dashboard. What that means for the company, we calculate after the intro call.
