AI document processing (also called intelligent document processing or IDP) uses machine learning to read incoming documents, emails, PDFs, scans, photos, extract the relevant data and post it into your business systems. Unlike classic OCR, it needs no template per sender: the model understands content, not just layout.
In practice this means: an order arrives by email, the AI extracts customer, items, quantities and delivery date, validates them against your master data and creates the order in your ERP or TMS. Your team verifies exceptions instead of retyping everything.

Classic OCR relies on fixed templates: if a customer changes their order or invoice layout, processing fails. AI document processing (IDP) understands the content of the document regardless of layout. The model reads an order from an email, PDF or photo, extracts the right fields and validates them against your master data, no template per customer needed.

An AI model reads the email and attachments (PDF, Excel, photo), recognises it as an order, extracts order number, items, quantities, addresses and delivery date, and posts them structured into your ERP or TMS. Yes, that is the whole point. The AI layer sits next to your existing systems and delivers processed data through the interfaces your ERP or TMS already has (API, import, EDI messages). Nothing needs to be migrated.
The model attaches a confidence score to every field. Low-confidence documents go to a review screen where an employee approves or corrects them in seconds, human in the loop. Every correction improves the model, typically growing from 70-80% towards 90%+ straight-through processing.
With a custom solution, processing runs in your own cloud environment (e.g. Azure in the EU) and your data remains yours. No customer data flows to an external SaaS platform, and the model is not trained on third-party data. Processing is covered by a GDPR-compliant data processing agreement.
